Hot shell massage
It is a treatment that has in recent years become a worldwide hit in beauty salons.
It is similar to the hot stone massage, except in this treatment the pressure on the skin is smaller, and shells emit heat longer than stones.
Treatment is originally from the Philippines, and the shells are heated by lava gel that is made from the dust of volcanic lava and using sea salt, seaweed, algae and salt water.
The gel when in contact with sea water is heated alone, so no additional heating appliances using electricity are required. It is based on the same principle as the hot stones massage.
First the body is coated in oil, then massage the back in semi-circular movements with the shells. The heat penetrates deep in to the skin, and acts anti-inflammatory, removes tension and muscle pains.
The treatment lasts for 60 minutes.
It is not recommended for pregnant women, people who have cancer or have recently had surgery.
